On Monday we with Erasmus students went to the Book Fair which is in Durango. There was a lot of people. This fair lasts from 4th till 8th of December. We were told that it is a big Fair and is very popular. There you can find a lot of CD and books, most of them are in Basque and a lot of them are about the Basque Country. A lot of souvenirs are sold there as well. We bought something for oureselves to have a nice memory. Weather was nice and we didnt missed the opportunity walk around the city. It was a nice day! Oh, and we listened some concert as well.

As Viktoria already wrote in her post, while you live and study in Spain you should not waste an opportunity to visit different places. So one day we decided that we must see the capital city as well. We went there by bus, the way took us about 4 hours. But it wasnt that tiring as we expected. We came in afternoon and straight away went to our hostel. It was a nice hostel just to spent a night there. And weather in Madrid was nice too- it wasnt too cold and it was sunny. After we left our bags in our hostel we went to the museum. It was the Prado museum. We saw there a lot of art work of the famous artists like Rubens or Tizian. After Pardo museum we went to another one it was Thyssen-Bornemisza museum. There were a lot of art as well. We didn’t spent much time there because we came an hour before its closing, but still we saw a lot. After our “museum day” we went to walk around the city in the evening. It was really beautifull with a lot of light and Christmas athmosphere. Next day we went on a tour with the bus around the city. So we saw most interesting parts. It was nice. After, we went to one more museum – the Reina Sofia where we saw a lot of works of Picasso. And after, in the evening we went for tapas. It was a nice weekend. We liked it very much.

While we live in the Basque Country, we have great opportunities to visit its different places. For example Erasmus media students must do a video project about something whatever they like. So, Viktoria is doing hers about the beautiful places in Debagoiena valley. To do that, she has to visit them, she asked me to help her out and because of that I have gotten the chance to go there with her. We went to such places like Urkulu – big water reservoir, Salt museum -where you can see how salt is made, we visited Aranzazu to see there its famous sanctuary in details. I am glad that I saw these places, it gives you more information abot Basue culture.

Today while I was watching interview with Viktoria and Arwen about their Erasmus experience I was thinking that we are here already for two and a half months and its a lot and yes we have seen a lot here too! I remember when I first came here. I knew so little Spanish and nothing about Euskara. (Now my language skills are better though…I hope xD)Before going to the Basque CountryI didnt know what to expect from this place. Yes, I have read about it, asked former Erasmus student who was here about three years ago, but still you never know till you experience it yourself.
And after I came here I have met a lot of nice people, Erasmus and Basque too. I am happy that we have such a nice group. We can have fun together, talk and walk around, climb some mountains maybe). If you have a bad mood they will cheer you up. I really appreciate that. University is also nice, right now media students have only one day of studies which makes it all better!Yay! But we still have one mounth more and there is definitely will be more to see and to do!

I think that I have visited Vitoria 3 times already. But every time that I am there I see there something new. I dont know why, but I find this sity more comfortable than Bilbao for example. I like Bilbao too, but I think that Vitoria is smaller and somehow ¿cozy? and this is the reason why I like it there.
I like to walk on its streets and I like the architecture of the city. In Vitoria there is old part of the city and modern as well. There are beautifu cathedrals and churches which belongs to different centuries and have different architecture styles. While I was doing my first video project for the University I thought that I have seen most of the city, but then I saw some pictures in my flatmate and found out that there is a lot yet to see. So I am hoping that before going back to Estonia I will visit this sity one more time:)

Today, me and Viktoria climbed the Udalaitz mountain. It was great! I must say that I was impressed by its beauty and by the surroundings around it. We did such long climbing for the first time so for us it was tiresome but none less exiting.
We came to the foot of the mountain by car with our basque friend Gorka who showed us the way. So after we parked the car our journey has started. It is funny but at the very begining we felt tired as if already reached the top and were breathing hard. There was a time when we thought that maybe we cant go furthere, but then we thought that we cant stop by now in the middle of our way.
I think that it is really tiring to climb any mountain, and we were told that Udalaitz is one of the hardest to do it. But we kept going on,ofcourse we did some stops, we rested a bit and continiued our way. When we reached the top we felt like heros. It was so worth it! The view from the top was incredible and inside you feel many emotions. But it was windy today, that at times we thought that wind will blow us away, but despite it everything went nice. After when we came back from the top of the mountain
we were sitting in the restaurant, drinking coffee and thinking that life is great.

On 7th of November Erasmus students went surfing. I never thought that I will be doing this kind of sport ever. But it was so much fun. Wheather wasnt that good, but we didnt noticed this, maybe because we all were very exaited.
We went from Mondragon to Zarautz by bus. There is located Zarautz surfing centre. Two surf- instructors helped us to prepare. If you want to go surfing you will need surfing board, special costume and some basic knowledge about how to do it. So after we were ready we went to the beach. On the beach we were sitting in a circle and listening instructions. And after began real thing.
When you listen explanations you kind of understand everything, but when it comes to practice it is very hard. Well for me it was.At first you need to maintain balance on the surfing board and then you need to catch a wave and try to stand on the board. Almost all of us were doing surfing for the first time ever, so it was hard. When we caught a wave we tried to stand on our boards but after 3-4 seconds we were falling.
After our surfing class we were very tired but happy. I think in future if I will have an opportunity I will definitely do surfing once again.

Sometime ago, me and 4 other Erasmus students – Fleur, Viktoria and Wilco went to explore Arrikrutz caves. It was a great experience. Because never in my life Ivisited such a big cave. In Estonia there are some caves, but they are very small.
We went there with Ander, Itziar and Nekane. Ander and Itziar were our guides and showed us most of the cave galleries and Itziar told us about cave historycal past. It was really nice experience. And something that never stop to amaze me is that the beauty of the nature in the Basque Country.
After our visit to the caves me, Viktoria and Fleur went with Ander to Arantzazu. That place is also very beautiful and fascinating . Especially the view of the valley. That day we were very amazed.

It is so strange sometimes, I mean changes in wheather. Yesterday it was pretty cold but today is a nice day – sun shines and it is warm outside. I hope it stays the same. Because in Estonia its 3 degrees right now. Cold…

We had so much fun while celebrating Maritxu Kajoi. It was the first time I ever heard about something like this celebration. But it takes a lot of effort to prepare for it as well. Girls and boys must dress up. Boys must wear suit and girls wear a beautiful dress. Celebration begins early in the day, people just go for drinks till about 3 p.m and then everybody go to eat. Me and Viktoria were lucky to experience something like food- club. We were eating there with our new local friends, we tried some basque cuisine and it was really good. Then we went drinking again. (I was told that one of the main aims on Maritxu is to get drunk^^) On the streets and in the whole city was so many people and everybody had much fun. It was a great celebration!
