Monika, our Basque culture teacher, organized a field trip to Arantzazu, a Fransiscan sanctuary in Oñati. This shrine in the midst of the Gipuzkoan highlands attracts a lot of devotees while it’s postmodern church and the Virgin of Arantzazu are surely worth the visit. Read more…

On Wedsnesday we had a field trip with the other Erasmus students to the Sanctuary of Arantzazu, located in Oñati. The the Virgin of Arantzazu is the main worship figure and also the patron of the province Guipuzcoa.

When it comes to music concerts in the Basque Country, Bilbao tops all the other cities. On Friday Heineken Greenspace introduced two rising indie bands in Santana 27. When I saw this on the internet, I was extremely happy to go there, since I had to miss one of these bands when they played in Belgium a while ago. Read more…

Another week comes to an end and we’re starting to realize that there are only four of them left. Four weeks to enjoy every moment we have and meanwhile trying to obey our upcoming deadlines. Last weekend, during my stay in Bilbao, I talked to Mikel and his roommate about communication issues and the generally low level of English in the Basque Country and Spain.
