Kaixo Isabel,

Ni ere bai, euskara ikasten ari naiz. I am French, in love with Basque country where I spent my childhood (in the french side, in Iparralde as it is said now). But at that time it was not posible for erdualdunak (non basque people) to have the oppotunity to learn the idioma out of a family. It was not taught in schools, forbidden instead! And I spend my life of adult far from Iparralde. Now I am retired, I am learning that great idiom, coming from very very ancient times, as it is said. Like you, I am using different books and methods (Bakarka, Assimil ...) and I am progressing, poliki poliki, thanks to them.
I draw your attention (and the one of others ikasleak, as well), to a website of the Eusko jaurlaritza o Gobierno basco de Euzkadi : www.ikasten.net, I discovered last year.
There is a course of euskara in it, at the address, hiru.com.
I am sure you will appreciate it and use it, too.
Ongi pasa eta gozatu ezazu euskaraz.

Kaixo Jim!

That's great! Did they come with audio tapes? Anyway, please let me know what you think of it. I've recently been using Jon D. Patrick & Ilari Zubiri Ibarrondo's A Student Grammar of Euskara and I'm loving it, especially the section on commonly committed errors. I highly recommend it.

I haven't been posting mostly because I would like to leave the blog open for the new bloggers. Once they're done, I'll get back to posting. :)

Same here! I need to update the Catalan section of EuskoCat and I really want to blog about learning Swedish as my summer project. :)

Fins aviat!

Kaixo, Cody,
Ni Kathy Achabal eta boisekoa naz. Nire Euskera txarto dago orain.
I studied Bizkino with Olatz at the Basque Museum for 2 yrs but have
forgotten a lot. I have trouble reading yours- I assume it's Batua. Sounds
like German sometimes instead of Basque.
My relatives are from Ea, Natrxitua, Ypaster, Zarandu. They now live in Bilbo,
Bedarona, Lekeitio etc.
I'm impressed not only that you learned Euskera but that you also learned Spanish.
I often use both at the same time, which I found common when I lived in Euskadi for a month.
If you get to Gernika, my cousing Johny and Elizabeth own a pet/plant store near the open
market. (Gerni Garden)

By the way, I know your Mom who sent me this blog.

Ondo Ibili eta agur.

you are a real inspiration!!! i too am very proud of my basque blood. I think I learned to read from my mother's National Geographic articles about Euskadi. I have been using books and CD's to try and learn a little of the language, and when i go to Lekeitio (my amuma's village in bizkaya) i use a few words, but what you are doing is truly an adventure. I am so envious.
